About this ebook

The guy she wants

Growing up on the coast of Maine with a revolving door of foster siblings, Caitlyn Michaud spent one intense and passionate year falling in love with her foster brother, Heath. Then he left without a word.

Isn’t the guy she needs

Determined to move on, in college Caitlyn has risen above her small town impoverished roots and has joined a sorority, reinvented her appearance, and landed the right boyfriend in frat president Ethan.

But the perfect world she tried so hard to attain is ripped apart when Heath appears one night out of nowhere. Out of the military, Heath is as brooding and intense as ever, and he is determined not only to win her back, but to exact revenge on everyone who kept him from her

And when one love allows her to breathe, but the other feels as essential to her life as air, how does she choose between them?

At first, I found the premise compelling, since the female protagonist chooses her first love but then everything goes wrong. It seemed a departure from other romances because, after she chooses her first love, that relationship seems controlling, strained, and her first love is deceptive and inconsiderate. All fights are resolved by people in their minds instead of actually hashing out the disrespect or rudeness of the other party. No resolutions, just a lazy ending

It was a good book with a good plot. The way the characters are treated though.... So Cat definitely had some issues, though I'm not sure what exactly. Especially towards the end. The way I see it, Heath was organising a surprise for her and she reacted in a way that didn't benefit either of them. Their love is the obsessive kind and, to be honest, other than knowing Cat because of their history and steamy sex, i'm not sure I see how that relationship was progressive. Also, I think Ethan made the best choice in that circumstance which was to end the relationship because in the end, both of them would've been unhappy. So Cat blaming Ethan is just ridiculous. She definitely had problems taking accountability for her actions and the role she played in how some events turned out. So, she has some growing to do. As for her best friend, good luck girl. I think having her own book would've been nice.

A love story, with so much pain and emotion that the reader is left feeling quite wrung out when it is finished. You Make Me is has all the angst of young love with the added dimension of dysfunctional family, foster care and betrayal. When Cat is caught in the middle between Ethan and Heath, my heart really went out to her, as she battled with the pull between the sensible thing to do, or what her heart was saying. To find that those who had been closest to her were responsible for her pain, is a double betrayal. The book is really well written, and the range of emotions experienced by Cat affected me deeply. However, I would recommend that this book comes with a age restriction.
