Charity Hughes is back for another adventure, this time solving the mystery of why and how a hedgehog familiar was hexed. The mystery deepens and there are interesting twists in the plot as the story progresses. The resolution is unexpected but well-plotted. It’s an enjoyable, cozy read with minimal violence but maximum suspense. Charity’s and Noah’s romance is progressing but no wedding bells for her in the near future.

This is book 3 in the Familiar Spirits series. Charity Hughes is a witch who runs Full Moon Apothecary in Salem, MA and she assists other witches with their familiars in her off time. She is being romanced by Noah, who recently bought a vet practice in Salem. He doesn’t know about her witchy status which is a bit of a challenge when they are together. Charity lives with Milo, a cocker spaniel familiar, she was fostering and working with when his owner, another witch, happened to be murdered
