At first I wasn't impressed. It seemed like a complete copycat of an Isaac Bashevis Singer novel. But then, when the twist came, and there were plenty, it turned into something I didn't want to end. I was blown away. I am now completely invested in reading more of Harry Turtledove's work.

An example of excellent short fiction. Turtledove creates a haunting look at what the future might have been. He also shows how the research of history can sometimes preserve and in some cases rebirth what some have attempted to destroy.

Excellent read! Harry once again never fails to keep you turning pages.
