About this ebook

Rob Dunbar is the world's best history professor. And with good reason: he's been alive for three thousand years, keeping his existence a secret since before the days of Athens.

But a stranger named Baxter has a better use for Rob's vast expertise. Baxter's looking to found a mining company in the Asteroid Belt. In exchange for Rob's help, he'll try to unravel the mystery of Rob's origin.

As they're getting their outfit off the ground, they come under covert attack by HemiCo, a powerful Mars-based corporation. And Rob learns Baxter has a secret of his own—he's not human. He's a highly illegal AI.

Developed by HemiCo in the wilds of Mars, the first AI escaped decades ago. They've been fighting a shadow war against their creators ever since. Dragged to Mars, Rob is thrown into the center of the fight—and becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution that will change the course of human history amongst the stars.

I was stunned, shocked and pleasantly surprised to see the way the future is described in this book, fluid and very probable. And the main character has an unknown, out-of-the-ordinary provenance, not god-like, but very human-like and uses past experiences to mold his future, even if it looks like going in circles. Because he can vouch for one thing: the history repeats.

I found numerous errors which needed the smoothing arts of an editor. Using "they" instead of "the", random insertions of copy-paste or previous edit artifacts, each of which would jar me from the narrative like turbulence on an airplane, and yet I really enjoyed this story. It is a classic style of far future story with a gripping plotline, engaging and believable characters, and an extremely well timed pace towards the climax. At the end, I did not feel let down by any aspect of the storytelling.

"Those who use foul language just arent smart enough, thst is they're stupid, to gind non foul phrases" a lesson well learned. I wonder though why writers who seem intelligent, write characters who seem intelligent but foul mouthed. That is, outside of well accepted highstress, frantic, panic, etc. scenarios where the least concern is 'foul' Why not limit it there {fcsious} Oh well, good otherwise.
