 The title of this book comes from Matthew‘s gospel: "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet." (24:6-8). This locates The End Is Not Yet within popular religious rhetoric about the "end time" and more sophisticated theological discourse on eschatology or Christian hope for a better world premised on faith in God. But is such faith still justified? And if so, how are we to describe and embody it in the life of the world?

About the author

John de Gruchy is professor emeritus of Christian studies and a senior scholar at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is also an Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University.

Ashley John Moyse is the McDonald Postdoctoral Fellow in Christian Ethics and Public Life at Christ Church, University of Oxford. He is also a research associate at Vancouver School of Theology at the University of British Columbia. He is the author of Reading Karl Barth, Interrupting Moral Technique, and Transforming Biomedical Ethics and has coedited several volumes, including Correlating Sobornost: Conversations between Karl Barth and the Russian Orthodox Tradition (Fortress, 2016), Kenotic Ecclesiology: Select Writings of Donald M. MacKinnon (Fortress, 2016), and Treating the Body in Medicine and Religion: Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Perspectives.
