About this ebook

In the ruins of civilization, a young girl's kindness and capacity for love will either save humanity -- or wipe it out in this USA Today bestselling thriller Joss Whedon calls "heartfelt, remorseless, and painfully human."

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her "our little genius."

Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointed at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh.

⭐⭐⭐ A good post apocalyptic story starring a child heroine! I really enjoyed this character and her intelligence. Where the book falls short for me is the development bringing us to the climax. I was initially drawn in by a captivating start. The story lost a lot of momentum and became a lull till the end. I absolutely loved the ending of this story. It has a rather philosophical resolve that I find satisfying! #mrcarey #thegirlwithallthegifts #bookstagram #bookreview #3star #lallahbookreview #readinginlallahland

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged from beginning to end. My only complaint would be the lack explanation for the fungus origin and it's impact world wide. This book is pretty much centered on one location. As a tech geek and scientist I would have loved more explanation as to why the children were unique. I can't wait for the movie that's due to arrive later this year/early 2017! If you are sitting on the fence wondering if you should buy and read this I say go for it especially if you want a fresh new take on the zombie genre. This zombie approach is actually plausible.

Overly verbose and depressing. This book highlights all of the very worst characteristics of humanity, and judges based on that. The end of mankind has never been portrayed more bleakly and depressing as this.
