Vor 20 Jahren wurde ein kleines Mädchen in der Babyklappe einer Diakonie abgelegt. Nur ein Zettel mit dem Namen dabei: MARY WOOLSWEARTH. Das Schicksal will, dass die Waise in einem Heim für Pensionärinnen großgezogen wird, vom Regiment der Damen zunehmend vergöttert wird, erst recht, da sich die Kleine als ein frisch frech, fröhliches Menschenkind entpuppt, zum singenden Faktotum der Alterchen entwickelt.
