I enjoyed reading Punk Rock Cowgirl by Kasey Lane, book one in her Blackberry Cove Cowboys series. Kendall Kelly returns home to Blackberry Cove to bury her grandmother, a mean-spirited woman who was forced to raise Kendall but not love her. This occurs at the same time Kendall’s career as a singer implodes with the thief of all her money by her manager and her record label dropping her while requesting their money advance for her next album be returned. Blackberry Cove is also where she abandoned her secret husband years ago without so much as a note. She’s hoping to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and finally cut the last tie to the only man she ever loved. As part owner of Kelly Family Farms, Damian Sloan has spent the last few years rebuilding the floundering business into a growing organic farm. He thought he'd moved on from his broken heart after she left him. However, when Kendall reappears in his life, he realizes he hasn’t forgotten or forgiven her. Though Kendall threatens everything he’s built, he can’t quite turn her away. These two need to come to an understanding and re-discover each other. Damian and Kendall need to put aside their differences and the past in order for the farm they both love and depend on to succeed. Maybe they can rebuild what they tragically lost, but first they both need to let the other know their true feelings and Kendall has to admit the truth about what happened that night, long ago. I enjoyed reading this book and didn’t want to put this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Lane wrote a wonderful story, drawing me in, making me forget the world around me. I definitely recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I am very sorry I could not rate this book higher. I saw it was published by Tule Publishing so I wanted to give it a try. Kasey Lane the author is new to me, so I am not familiar with her other works. I know I am conventional, but I don't think I'm prudish. Maybe this review is not fair to the author. I am sure there are readers out there that do not mind cursing in the first few sentences of the story. Or maybe you enjoy explicit sex acts described through out the book, but that's not for me. If you like hot, steamy sex and can get past the F bomb, you may enjoy this quick read by Kasey Lane. I tried to rate my review on the writing itself, but it still came up short. The fact that the main character, a short time into her marriage to the love of her life, runs away to become a singing star, for me was not plausible. Kasey's husband, whom she left to pursue this career and is still married to, walks up to the front of the church and kisses the daylights out of her at her grandmothers funeral. They haven't seen each other in years and he does this in front of the complete town. I'm sorry, but I jut couldn't buy into it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Tule Publishing through NetGalley, Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was an excellent way to kick off the new Blackberry Cove Cowboys series. It's wonderfully written with characters that will touch your heart. Kasey Lane is a new to me author but after reading this book I'll be looking for more from her. Kendall Kelly returns to Blackberry Cove after the death of her grandmother. Never did you expect to have to deal with Damian Sloan on this trip but after the reading of the will it's obvious she not only has to deal with him but she will also need to convince him to sell the farm to help her out of her troubles. Sure she might technically be married to the man but surely he's forgiven her for leaving by now. Or maybe not..... This was an excellent read and one I think you'll enjoy. I definitely recommend it.
