About the author

Michael Spencer Hayes has a master’s degree in American history and has taught U.S. history as an adjunct professor at the State University of New York. He has contributed to the Long Island Historical Journal and Modern American Environmentalists, a biographical encyclopedia. He is the author of Oak Hill: Voices from an American Hamlet, an Oral History. Currently Mike is a teacher in the Social Studies Department in East Meadow High School. He lives in Manhattan.
