Disappointing despite it taking four years for him to finish writing. The dialogue seemed unnatural and contrived in many parts. Loose ends and issues wrapped up a little too easily. Maybe, Lamb wanted it to be over. I am a fan of Lamb since She's Come Undone. Actually, I think I may reread that...

The characters are deep but I felt the dialogue between them was superficial or just plain lacking. The storyline didnt need the "Josephe Jones" aspect and it came across as distracting for me and perhaps a short story that should have been published on its own. The subjects tackled in this book are weighty and extreme and I could easily feel the authors lack of in depth experience with them. But all in all, not a bad way to pass some time.

A book that shows us how life has twists and turns, how some people are here to stay even if they change their initial role, and there's absolutely nothing like the effect of time. Good book.
