About this ebook

When you’ve lived your life as a criminal…
When you’ve done unspeakable things …
When your soul has become dark and stained…

The path to redemption begins where you least expect it.

Kyle Sommerville is in hiding and doesn’t want to be found by anyone. Certainly not by his quirky, free-spirited neighbor who’s managed to push her way past the walls he’s built around him. But Jane Cresson’s indomitable will and insatiable curiosity about her reclusive neighbor makes it impossible for Kyle to stay immersed in his dark world.

Little by little, she claws through his shell.
Day by day, she gets him to smile a little more.
Night by night, they both find pleasure they never knew existed.

When Kyle’s terrible past is exposed, Jane begins to think she’s in over her head. Can her love for this broken man finally clear his path to redemption, or will Kyle’s darkness finally extinguish every bit of hope she’s put into him?

Sawyer Bennett is a genius, and I love her work, this book is no exception. I love that we first met Kyle in the Wicked Bond series very briefly, but enough that he needed his own book to fill in a few pieces and what a treat it is for us. He is a character that I was most looking forward to read. Kyle has been deep undercover for five years, trying to bring down an entire motorcycle club and the affiliated people. This brings many conflicting emotions for Kyle, who deep down is a sensitive sole. He is now in hiding, opting to look after himself than trust the Witness Protection Program, and waiting for the court case to bring them all to justice. While hiding, Kyle is trying to reconcile the man he has become to who he was previous to the ATF job. Nothing in this time had him ready to meet up with Jane Cresson who is his neighbour. Jane has a way of getting under his skin and leaving him wanting more. She is a fun, quirky and geeky woman that I just adored. Being a movie buff myself, the quotes were interesting and made her so alluring, she is a refreshing female lead character. Having the dual POV's is always a winner to being able to get both perspectives and seeing each others side. I loved that Kyle was a loner in the beginning of the book, but with the help of Jane and her pushy ways, he not only got his old life back, but found he could have a wonderful life being with her. Highly recommend you pick this one up and find Kyle too. ** I received a copy for an honest review **

A gorgeous story about a guy, who’s committed heinous crimes for the greater good, and the sweet woman who is like warm, bright summer to the bleak, cold winter that is his life. “No matter how much I’m attracted to her – no matter how intrigued I am by the very light that radiates from her personality – I cannot go there.” Kyle has been damaged by his experiences of a life living with the inhumane dregs of society for the past few years. He is hiding in plain sight, trying to acclimatise to normal living, and trying to shed his hard-earned brutality and savagery. However, his stunning but forward neighbour makes it difficult for him to keep to himself, as she amuses him against his volition with her quirkiness, and he finds her brightness irresistibly hard to fight. She’s a balm to his tortured soul but he doesn’t want to taint her with his darkness. “I vow to myself I’m going to get through those walls he just put up around himself, no matter what it takes.” Jane is funny, quirky, and almost indomitable. She is full of life and light, and completely happy and content with her life in a small town. She thinks her hot but taciturn neighbour is a puzzle that she has the compulsion to solve, and is not put off by the fact that he is “crude, withdrawn, gruff, and anti-social”. Her attraction and her belief that beneath his tough, dangerous exterior is a gentler soul, keeps her pushing her way into his life. This story was a mixture of adorable (just like the heroine), humorous, with a smattering of darkness (as we learn little pieces of Kyle’s recent past), and plenty of hot! I loved how Kyle couldn’t keep away from Jane – his passion and lust for her were swoony. I loved Jane’s goodness, her trusting nature, and her willingness to step out of her comfort zone to be with Kyle. Her best friend, Miranda, was a fab, sassy character and I’d love to read a story about her. Overall, a really great read, in a beautiful setting, about two innately good people finding one another. One bringing love, comfort and brightness to the life of the other, who has seen the worst of what the world has to offer.

What a fantastic addition to Sawyer Bennetts books, this is a standalone but this is book about a character we have meet a few times before first in Shaken, not Stirred (Last Call Series) and then in Wicked Bond (Wicked Horse Series) and looking back Kyle Somerville always had a story to tell. Kyle had to become a criminal to protect his identity whilst working undercover for the ATF in a violent MC Club called Mayhem's Mission. He is now living a solitary life whilst waiting to give evidence against some of the members of Mayhem's Mission. Jane is quirky funny school teacher who ends up as Kyles neighbor, she has never been interested in tattooed bad boys well not until she spotted Kyle. She can't stop watching him and the more he pushes her away the more she pushes to get to know him. What Jane doesn't know is that by pushing him she is not only risking her heart she is risking her own safety. Will Kyle tell Jane all of his secrets and will she accept his past.....can they find a way to make it all work, you need to read the book to find out. I loved Kyle's story and Jane is the perfect match for him. He is Dark she is Light. Its a well written book that kept me intrigued from the first chapter. As always looking forward to the next book from Sawyer Bennett.

About the author

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released multiple books, many of which have appeared on the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active daughter, as well as full-time servant to her adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or even better, both.

Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.
