About this ebook

A horse-whispering loner

After years as an Army Ranger, Sebastian Donnelly is content to be left alone with his horses. He's better with them than with...people. But that changes when his boss's little sister shows up. There's something about her, a vulnerability that tugs at his need to rescue. And a sexy, vivacious charm that ignites an attraction he ought to ignore.

A soon-to-be lawyer

Desperate for a break before her last semester of law school, Laurel Maxwell is excited to see her brother marry the woman he loves. Logan and Athena, their happiness, the life they're building at the farm all serve as a reminder that she's barreling toward a future she's no longer sure she wants. One her overbearing father insists is the only path she's meant for.

Who's rescuing who?

When Laurel is offered the chance to stay on the farm and dogsit while the happy couple honeymoons, she jumps at the chance to get out her life and into Sebastian's strong arms. He wants to help her make her decision, a choice with haunting echoes of his own past. But is there any path that leads to a forever where a brilliant lawyer and reclusive horse trainer could build a life together?

Kait Nolan has done it again. Written a sweet but exciting story about two of the residents of Eden Ridge. Even if you haven’t read any of the other books, you will be able to follow this one just fine. Logan and Athena are getting married. Logan’s sister, Laurel, is going to be a bridesmaid. She is out of school for the Christmas Holiday. When she returns, she will finish her last semester of law school. And she had been offered a job at a prestigious firm in New York. When one of Logan’s groomsmen can’t make the wedding, he asks Sebastian, his friend and ranch helper to fill in. Sebastian finds Laurel intriguing but he isn’t into relationships. When Laurel’s father decides to toast her success in law school and the offer of the job, she loses it. She isn’t sure she wants to work at this big firm or even wants to practice law. And for him to do this at the rehearsal dinner, essentially snubbing Logan, she has to leave the room. Sebastian follows her and they begin to bond as he comforts her. Laurel has agreed to stay at Logan’s house while he on his honeymoon, which means she and Sebastian are going to be working closely together. She becomes fascinated with Sebastian’s dreams for a horse rescue program. But is her father going to throw a wrench in her plan to help Sebastian. And can Sebastian trust her to really be interested in his plans and dreams. Read to find out. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I adore everything Kait Nolan writes. There’s nothing of hers that I’ve read that I haven’t loved. She has the ability to have me convulsing in paroxysms of laughter and heaving great shuddering sobs. This book didn’t disappoint. I’m a sucker for a military hero, so this whole series is right up my alley. Make him brooding and gothic, like Sebastian, and he becomes more irresistible to me than catnip to your favorite mouser. I suffer from a similar affliction as Laurel – a need to please and gain my parents’ validation. It’s safe to say that Sebastian and Laurel and carrying around a lot of emotional baggage. And the story gets pretty deep as they unpack it all. I loved these two together, even though they frequently drove me a little crazy. But I think one of the things I loved best about this book was that we got to see all the denizens of the Misfit Inn again as well as Ivy and Harrison. I can’t wait to come back and do it again. Sebastian is more comfortable with horses then people. He works on Maxwell farm rescuing abused horses. Laurel Maxwell has one more semester of law school. Both are in Edens Ridge for Athena and Logan's wedding. Laurel has big decisions to make about the future. She is torn between doing what her father wants her to do versus finding what makes her happy. The twists as Sebastian and Laurel get to know each other and deal with past experiences leads to drama and new possibilities.
