Sarah Orne Jewett has become one of my favorite Victorian/Edwardian authors to date. Her novels are woven as fine as a tapestry and sewn together like a patchwork quilt. She weaves together her female characters in their daily lives and combines them with their male counterparts all the while keeping every character distinct and intertesting. I love how she intergrates everything from gathering herbs to making clam chowder as a base for her parables. I learn both literally and metaphorically from her wisdom
