About the author

Dr. Melvin D. Montemerlo is a historian of Windsor Locks, CT. He has published seven books on this topic. He retired in 2008 after a 30 year career at NASA in technology development. He obtained a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1970. Windsor Locks, Ct is the town in which he was raised from birth until he went to college in 1960. In 2016, after retiring, he met a number of individuals from Windsor Locks, CT who were doing research on town history and became very interested. The only time a complete history of Windsor Locks was done, it was written and published by Jabez Hasell Hayden in 1900, and covered from 1660 to 1900. It was only 120 pages long. Dr. Montemerlo decided it was time to do a new set of books on Windsor Locks history from its prehistory in 1660 until the present time. He wrote and published seven books which did this but they cover thousands of pages. He wanted to come up with a briefer encyclopedia of town history, and came up with the idea of making one-page writeups on important events and people in town history. This book is the result.
