About the author
査建英（1959－），筆名扎西多，九十年代活躍於美國和香港，查建英曾稱其最喜歡的城市是北京和香港。1996年，査建英的英文著作China Pop出版；2006年出版《八十年代訪談錄》。父親查汝強為原中國社會科學院哲學教授，其兄查建國是中國民主黨創始人之一，1999年時曾因「顛覆國家政權罪」被判處九年徒刑。2007年4月，査建英在《紐約客》上發表了名為《國家的敵人》的文章，敘述了她哥哥的故事，文章收在本書《弄潮兒》。牛津版作品有中文：《八十年代訪談錄》《中國波普》《自由不是免費的》；英文：China Pop: How Soap Operas, Tabloids, and Bestsellers Are Transforming a Culture, Tide Players: The Movers and Shakers of a Rising China
