Ratings and reviews

I think it is very brave to come forward and write about these experiences. However, I felt as though this book focussed heavily on details that didn't feel particularly relevant to her experiences or the bigger picture and brushed over those that could really have helped the reader get a better insight into the issues. The focus here was largely around how she manages the rest of her life outside of what was happening rather than helping the reader actually understand the experiences of what she went through. I feel deeply saddened by the lack of support that seems to continue throughout her life and thoroughly commend the bravery to tell this tale.

Very sad. This woman is a true survivor!

About the author

Theresa Flores was born in Ohio in 1965. In 1981, at the age of 15, Theresa was lured into the sinister world of human trafficking, escaping at the age of 17. Theresa is now a social worker, lectures internationally on human trafficking and is the founder of the charity TraffickFree, which provides help and advice to trafficking victims. She lives in Ohio with her three children.
