Julie Klassen is such a great storyteller. This book begins slow, but it picks up. Fun adventure, wonderful characters, and sweet romance. Definitely caught the Mansfield Park nod...one of my most favorite books ever!!! Highly recommend this novel, especially if you love any Austen or Bronte novel.

I was a little disappointed. It seems every story Julie writes is about a fallen woman, making her own way in the world, being pursued by 2 different men. This story line was the same. Although it was a cute read, its getting a little old. I would like to see Julie step out of her comfort zone and write something different.

Girl in the Gatehouse was the first book of Julie Klassen's that I read. I loved it. I love her writing style & story settings. This is my second favorite book of hers. (My favorite is Lady of Milkweed Manor.)

Julie Klassen is a fiction editor and novelist. Her first book, Lady of Milkweed Manor, was a Christy Award finalist. The Silent Governess is a finalist for the RITA® Award in Inspirational Romance and the Minnesota Book Awards for Genre Fiction. Julie is a graduate of the University of Illinois. She and her husband have two sons and live in St. Paul, Minnesota.
