I have to confess that I am really getting sucked in into this series. It's exactly like watching a series on the TV screen. Only difference is I get to actually imagine how all the characters look like ;) There are characters that I love, and some that I am not very happy with. And it is simply intriguing :D And considering how short each story is, It is the perfect read for a relaxing evening at home :) In White Lightning, I got to read more about Dakota but I have to say that that didn't really improve my opinion of her. I thought she was spoiled, a brat and thinks too highly of herself. Even probably a little bit delusional. Unfortunately, my opinion didn't change. If anything she proved that she is exactly what I thought of her. And it was quite a pity that she blamed everything on her mother or everyone around her. The good thing was that I got also snippets of the rest of the people in Storm. And I have to say that some of them were quite interesting. Especially considering that I also met new characters :) In a few words, the book is an interesting read and it is quite entertaining. The only problem is that once you finish it you just want the next episode. Exactly as a soap opera :D So be prepared to get sucked in into the characters lives. And be warned that you have to read the episodes in order :) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Hidden agendas, shady characters, heartbreaking events. Episode 1: Tempest Rising was an introduction into a troubled community of people sent reeling from the death of one of their own. Episode 2: White Lightning digs deeper into not just the repercussions of the accident but the inner workings of two marriages with secrets of their own and the bad choices of one woman. I did not like the Senator. He has smarmy written all oven him and I don't believe his wife is as blind as she pretends to be, she just doesn't care. The way he preys on younger, weaker women makes him a sociopath to me. Dakota needed to get over blaming others and start facing the choices she made and stop relying on others for her happiness. The Rising Storm series is a guilty pleasure that is worth experiencing from the beginning. I received an ARC of White Lightning by Lexi Blake in exchange for an honest review.

Rising Storm: White Lightning is book 2 in this serial series. I highly recommend reading the first book because this one picks up where the first left off. These are not stand alone books. Dakota is devastated when she discovers her father has left town without so much as a goodbye. Reeling and heartbroken, she finds the advances of the Senator (the same man she thwarted off before) a little more appealing. Sebastian Rush has wanted Dakota for a long time, and it looks like now he will finally be able to move forward with his pursuit of her. Ginny also realizes that someone other than her has their suspicions about the father of her baby. Her best friend Brittany Rush helps her through the rough time of getting over Jacob's death, but Brittany's thoughts keep straying to Marcus Alvarez. Sheriff Dillon should feel guilty about railroading Hector Alvarez out of town, but he knew if he didn't, it would be Joanne's funeral he would be attending soon. His feelings for Joanne run deep, and he wasn't sorry he was able to at least spare her the abuse her husband had been heaping on her. Joanne tries to put on a brave front for her children but inside she's lost and in a turmoil without her husband and the thoughts of the handsome sheriff. The story is a continuing saga of the lives of the citizens of Storm, Texas. This one is much more involved than the first, which was basically ground work, and is a great second book. I enjoyed Lexi Blake's style of writing and she is able to run with the predatory character of the Senator and open the doors for the other characters to develop. Stay tuned!
