I love House of Mirth. The characters are great and you can truly express emotions against them. Though it's sad that Lily dies in the end, it was nice to read a book where the heroine doesn't get everything she wished for. And it's the perfect seal to such a great book

I liked this book. The theme seemed to linger on and on. I had no sympathy for the main character, Lilly Bart, as she was so attached to her conditioned desire for a lush, materialistic life that it lead to her demise. I found myself wanting to yell out to her (the same way I yell at the TV during the hockey game) - "What the hell are you doing?" I wanted her to let it go and live simply and happly. But, no, she did not listen and now she is dead!
