About this ebook

The New York Timesā€“bestselling novel with ā€œan inventive premise and easy-to-root-for charactersĀ .Ā .Ā . a series opener [young adult fantasy] fans will enjoyā€ (Kirkus Reviews).

From the author of the New York Timesā€“bestselling White Rabbit Chronicles series comes the first book of a new series.

Tenley ā€œTenā€ Lockwood is an average seventeen-year-old girlĀ .Ā .Ā . who has spent the past thirteen months locked inside the Prynne Asylum. The reason? Not her obsession with numbers, but her refusal to let her parents choose where sheā€™ll liveā€”after she dies.

There is an eternal truth most of the world has come to accept: Firstlife is merely a dress rehearsal, and real life begins after death.

In the Everlife, two realms are in power: Troika and Myriad, longtime enemies and deadly rivals. Both will do anything to recruit Ten, including sending their top Laborers to lure her to their side. Soon, Ten finds herself on the run, caught in a wild tug-of-war between the two realms who will do anything to win the right to her soul. Who can she trust? And what if the realm sheā€™s drawn to isnā€™t where the boy sheā€™s falling for lives? She just has to stay alive long enough to make a decisionĀ .Ā .Ā .

ā€œUtterly unique and absolutely rivetingā€”I couldnā€™t put it down! What a marvelously cool world.ā€ ā€”Sarah J. Maas, #1 New York Timesā€“bestselling author of The Crescent City series

ā€œThe storyā€™s use of religion as a framework is fresh and layered, giving the novel an epic sweep.ā€ ā€”Publishers Weekly

ā€œA creative mash-up of dystopian science fiction and otherworldly fantasy.ā€ ā€”School Library Journal

This book had so much potential. The idea and the cover where amazing and the first few pages made me buy the book but that's it. Like a bad relationship, there weren't enough good moments to trug through the bad and by the end I was completely over it and couldn't believe I'd wasted my life in those four hundred pages. If you need something to put you to sleep this is the book for you but if you want interesting, with developed characters...you'll be disappointed
