「自己的國家自己救」，是太陽花學運時的響亮口號。民眾得自己來，凸顯的是政府之無能。
總統蔡英文連任後，任用蘇貞昌擔任行政院長，蘇主打「有政府，會做事」，在防止非洲豬瘟、推三倍券救經濟、武漢肺炎防疫上，表現不錯，但美豬開放卻讓蘇快破功；想拖國民黨下水，牽拖無辜的牛肉麵和「豬肉界台積電」，造成人民更加不信任，四面楚歌的閣揆，再強硬也要開始打電話求援。
進口豬肉商李春來講明，曾提醒官方標示「含萊、不含萊」，但政府不肯，進口豬肉價格直直落，「大家都快活不下去了」，於是本來是政府該做的「有無含萊劑」標示工作，進口商自己做。
民怨沸騰中，國民黨拉長戰線地方包圍中央，但執政黨最大的敵人不是在野黨，是未來不想吃到萊豬只能賭運氣，對「自己吃的豬肉要自己救」滿肚子怨氣的人民。「有政府，能幹嘛？」人民的心存懷疑，是蔡政權最大的危機。
