Damit die Ausführungen nicht unreflektiert stehen bleiben, werden anschliessend die wichtigsten Kritikpunkte und gegensätzliche Konzeptionen aufgezeigt. Der „Wandel des öffentlichen Raums“ und seine Auswirkungen auf das Verhalten der Menschen, werden anhand von Sharon Zukin und Richard Sennett beschrieben und Verbindungen zu Habermas’ Idee der Öffentlichkeit hergestellt. Die Annahmen und Bewertungen von Habermas und Zukin werden miteinander verglichen und am Volkspalast, der zweijährigen Zwischennutzung des Palasts der Republik in Berlin, illustriert und an der Realität überprüft. The Thesis describes the concept of the bourgeois public sphere and its decay in the theory of Jürgen Habermas. Afterwards the most important criticisms and cotradictionary concepts are revealed. The “Change of Public Space” is described with reference to the writings of Richard Sennett and Sharon Zukin. A systematic comparison of the assumptions and the valuations of both is crucial for the application and validation to the biennial temporary use of the “Palast der Republik” in Berlin.
