About this ebook

From a New York Times bestselling author comes the captivating novel hailed as “Romance the way it was meant to be.”

Dashing and untamable, André Raveneau is the Revolutionary War’s most reckless privateer captain when Devon Lindsay stows away aboard his ship after her Connecticut town has been burned by the British. Raveneau cynically agrees to deliver her to her childhood sweetheart in Virginia but doesn’t count on his own potent attraction to the enchanting, courageous Devon.

Although Raveneau has vowed to never succumb to love, can he stand by and watch Devon marry another man?

Through high adventure, swashbuckling sea battles, and the colorful history of America’s revolution, the couple struggles against the fiery passion that binds them together.

I grew annoyed with both Devon & Andrè,the way they both hid their tender emotions & were only eager to be cruel to each other. The book did go on& on without any kindness &consideration on both the main characters. How could Devon continue to care for Morgan&Caleb when they both nearly did the unthinkable to her but not show that care for the only guy who ignites all her passion? It really starts being a good read for me, after Devon is left behind at the Island. Also there is a greyhound looking person here too ,same as in another book by this author,I found that an interesting observation.

This story was a bit of a roller coaster for me. I loved Devon from the beginning. She is sweet, a little misguided, and a survivor. Andre was a bit harder for me. He was arrogant with a gentle side when we first met him. As the story progressed, I found him more arrogant and self-centered, and I almost stopped listening. Then I learned of his past, and I had an "a-ha" moment. He pulled me back into it, and I could not stop listening. I do recommend this story. This is my unsolicited review.

Loved the hero! He did try my patience at times but he was certainly my kind of man. To be fair he was often reacting to the very high spirited heroine, who reminded me of myself. I am glad they stopped fighting long enough to fall in love. This one is a keeper!

About the author

My career as a novelist began when I was twenty-three, with a phone call from New York announcing that CAROLINE would be published by Ballantine Books. Can you imagine my excitement? I went on to write 12 more bestselling historical romances set in Colonial America, Regency England & America, Medieval England & France, and the American West.

My novels have won many awards over the years, but what means most are readers' messages like this one: "When I read your books, I can't wait to turn the page, but never want the story to end." It's a thrill to have all my novels available, including my two newest, TEMPEST (The Raveneau Novels, Book 4) and SMUGGLER’S MOON (The Raveneaus in Cornwall, Book 1).

Today I live in northern California with my husband, Alvaro, in a 1930's Spanish cottage. When we aren't riding our tandem road bike or traveling in our Airstream, I love spending time with family, especially my two young grandsons.

Many of you have asked, "In what order should I read the Beauvisage & Raveneau books?" Although the titles stand alone, these two series intertwine with some characters crossing over, and many readers enjoy them in chronological order:
1781 - SILVER STORM
1783 - CAROLINE
1789 - TOUCH THE SUN
1793 - SPRING FIRES (A Beauvisage/Raveneau Novel)
1798 – SMUGGLER’S MOON (The Raveneaus in Cornwall)
1814 - SURRENDER THE STARS
1814 - NATALYA
1818 - SILVER SEA (A Raveneau/Beauvisage Novel)
1903 - TEMPEST
