Peyton is a sculptor who has literally pulled herself up from nothing. She survived the kind of childhood no child should have to. Colin saves her from a terrible blind date, and they begin a relationship from there. Colin is the fourth of the Ryan siblings to feel the Ryan click. A now reformed playboy, he soon knows she is the one, but Peyton does not believe in love. By the time she realizes that all this good wooing has made her fall in love with him, it may not be enough to save them. To call Peyton fierce would be an understatement. She literally embodies strength. Colin does not show his true self to most people, but he bares his heart to Peyton. The two of them together have incredible chemistry. While this is part of a series, it can stand alone. To be honest, though, the series is best read in order. This is an easy recommendation, and well worth the one click. Recommended reading - The new book in the series - good story set against the backdrop of BDSM. Two people who do not believe in love due to bad experiences in the past, high emotions and the developing of a relationship. Not the usual circumstances in which you would likely expect to be dealing with drama and potential romance. Strong characters, well written and developed storyline. Colin comes to Peyton's rescue as her knight in shining armour, at the themed evening. Payton's friend has set her up with a date; dressed in full character costume, she is taken to the sex club but it does not go well because her date believes he is entitled to have sex with her as he has paid for the ticket.

What started out as something very similar to the old joke about how porcupines mate, evolved into something very different then I had been expecting. Even though Colin’s walls are high and well defended, he's the one fighting hard for this relationship from the very beginning. At least, until all his old baggage comes back to bite him. Peyton doesn't believe in love. Period. As far as she’s concerned it's a lovely sentiment she's never had experience with. Colin has his work cut out for him to prove that it exists. But is that even possible for two people whose hearts are as well guarded as a medieval castle under siege? I feel like this book was a little bit of a slower burn, but at the same time I don't. Colin puts in a lot of effort to gently woo Peyton and show her that love isn't just a myth. Their encounters are spicy, and I particularly liked the way he introduced her to the Lifestyle. He lost some serious book boyfriend credit with me when he allowed his past to disrupt his future however, his groveling game is on point. I loved seeing their happy ever after, and I'm already looking forward to seeing what's coming next in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
