About this ebook

Join reporter Nick Daniels as he uncovers deadly secrets in a page-turning thriller from the "unstoppable" James Patterson (USA Today).
Seated at New York's Lombardo's Steak House, reporter Nick Daniels is conducting a once-in-a-lifetime interview with a legendary baseball bad-boy when an assassin strikes. In the chaos, he accidentally captures a key piece of evidence that lands him in the middle of an all-out war between Italian and Russian mafia forces. NYPD captains, district attorneys, mayoral candidates, media kingpins, and one shockingly beautiful magazine editor are all pushing their own agendas-on both sides of the law.
Back off-or die-is the clear message Nick receives as he investigates for a story of his own. Heedless, and perhaps in love with his beautiful editor, Nick endures humiliation, threats, violence, and worse in a thriller that overturns every expectation and finishes with the kind of twist only James Patterson can deliver.

Bruno Torenzi kills attorney Vincent Marcozza in a New York restaurant. At a nearby table, newspaper reporter, Nick Daniels had been about to begin an interview with a disgraced baseball player, Dwayne Robinson. When Nick gets home and plays the tape of the interview, he's shocked to hear the killer's voice, "I have a message from Eddie, Justice is Blind. Nick knows that Eddie Pinero, the reputed Brooklyn crime boss is supposed to have ordered the hit on Marcozza because the attorney didn't do a good job on Eddie's trial and Eddie now faces prison. Nick takes the evidence to the New York District attorney. Things happen quickly. Bruno is celebrating with a prostitute when her two brothers barge in, thinking he's just a nervous john and that they can rob him. Bruno reaches under his pillow and does away with the brothers. The pacing is well done and Nick moves through the story, getting into trouble, meeting his challanges and sometimes being miraculously rescued. The cover of the novel advertises the story as a clash between the Italian and Russian Mafias. There is so little in the story about the Russian Mafia that this is totally incorrect and gives an improper impression to the story.

Don't Blink is a very accurate title for this book. reporter Nick Danielas goes from one scrap to the next in frightening fashion. The suspense is typical Patterson and every bit as good as the Alex Cross or Michael Bennet thrillers. This is one you don't want to miss out on.
