About this ebook

When the stress of the job pushes Sam Magnus to take greater risks than is called for as a helicopter pilot with the US Army 160th Night Stalkers, his commander insists he extend his leave past the time it takes to attend his brother’s wedding to include some much-needed R&R. Like it or not, Sam Magnus isn’t cleared to return to work until he’s had time to cool his heels and learn how to relax. With no clue how to chill, he relies on a dart thrown at a map to determine where he should spend his unwanted vacation. The Greek Island of Santorini it is! Used to non-stop action, the thought of lolling in the sun for two weeks makes him want to hurt someone. Namely his commanding officer. Until he interferes with an attempted kidnapping of one hot babe his first night on the island.

Stranded on Santorini, abandoned by the wealthy couple who hired her, former au pair, Kinsey Phillips, has enough going wrong with being broke and homeless, she doesn’t need to add an attempted kidnapping to her list of troubles. An Army helicopter pilot swoops in to rescue her, and thus begins a whole new set of troubles. The man is incredibly handsome and Kinsey knows what guys like that are like—love ‘em and leave ‘em.

No, sir. She’d been there, done that and had scars to prove it. Count her out of a potentially doomed relationship, although she could use his help in the meantime to survive the beautiful but deadly Greek island and get back to the States…alive.

Someone is determined to take Kinsey. It’s not Sam’s job to keep her safe, but he resultantly assumes the responsibility when he discovers she has nowhere else to go. Rest and relaxation is impossible to achieve with a sexy blond sharing his cottage, especially when her attackers aren’t willing to forgo their prize.

Sexy, suspenseful, quick read. Sam is a helicopter pilot in the US Army. He's been ordered to take two weeks' vacation by his CO after he takes unnecessary risks while flying. After attending his brothers wedding he heads to the Greek island of Santorini for a two-week stay at a bed and breakfast. Kinsey is a damsel in distress. She sold everything and moved to Greece for a new start and a new job only to have the job disappear before she started and then all of her possessions, including her passport, were stolen. Hired as an au pair for a wealthy couple, they disappear on her without paying her what she is owed. When she is kidnapped from her hotel Sam rescues her. This story has a lot going on and I read it in one sitting. After several attempts to kidnap Kinsey again, Sam is determined to keep her safe. He hires her to be his companion – to keep unwanted females away. Sam wants no part of a long-term relationship. Against her better judgment, Kinsey agrees to help Sam in exchange for a plane ticket back to the states. There's mystery, suspense and romance all rolled into a great story. This book stands alone but if you've read the other three books in this series Sam's three brothers make an appearance and it was nice to visit with them again. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Elle James - Sam's Surrender - (Hearts & Heroes - Book 4) The series is based on three brothers who are all in the U.S. military. Wyatt Magnus was in the Army Special forces, Mack is a Marine, Ronin is a Seal and Sam is an Army helicopter pilot. They have a younger sister, Abby, who is with the U.S. Foreign Service stationed in Ukraine at the American Embassy. The four (4) Magnus brothers get back together in book 4 – Sam’s Surrender. While there is no mention of their sister, Abby Magnus, I assume she will have her own story in book 5. Since Ms. James is my go-to author for almost everything she writes, you won’t be disappointed in Book 4 of the Magnus brothers. Wyatt Magnus’s wedding is over and Sam who can’t wait to get back to his unit, the 160th Night Stalkers, which he ferries Special Ops teams to the hot spots in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. The only problem is that Sam isn’t allowed to back to his unit on the orders of his commander. Sam has been ordered to take an additional two (2) weeks leave and to come back with his head on straight. Sam is taking more and more risks and doesn’t even know how to relax anymore. In fact, he is ordered to check in every 24 hours with his commander and prove to him that he is indeed mellowing out. So where did Sam choose to take this “leave”? He thru a dart and he is on his way to a Greek island, Santorini. His first night on the island, he saw two big brutes carrying away a woman. After he rescues her and gets her to his B&B, he finds out she all her money, clothes, passport, everything has been taken from her. He knows he can’t let her sleep under the stars. He does the only thing a gentleman should do, offer her one night on his sofa/chair. Kinsey Phillips is so grateful that Sam saved her from being kidnapped. Maybe her bad luck streak is finished, and she can move forward. When another attempt to kidnap Kinsey, Sam has decided that he and his brothers will find out what is going on. Take this journey with Sam and Kinsey. You will find out why Sam turned off his feelings and flying helicopters with “robot feelings” and nothing more. Can Sam let down his walls and let Kinsey in, or will Kinsey feel that Sam is different than her last boyfriend? AND…. What about the book cover for Sam’s Surrender –boom!! Yea, me too. I volunteered to read this Advanced Review Copy and form my own opinion.

Sam, a helicopter pilot for the Army Night Stalkers, is one of the best helicopter pilots the Army has. But he's been taking too many chances while flying. Under strict orders to relax, Sam is sent on an extended vacation. He either learns to relax or he's grounded. That's easier said than done when trouble seems to follow Sam. Kinsey, after suffering great loss, decides to live life to the fullest. She packs up everything she owns to travel the world, taking different jobs as she travels. During her first stop, all identifying documents and money are stolen. While trying to come up with a plan, Kinsey meets the Martins. She's offered a job as a nanny to their children while they're on vacation in Santorini. On her way to meet the family for dinner, Kinsey is abducted. Cue Sam.... This novel was AWESOME and thoroughly enjoyable!!! I was engaged from the first few pages straight to the last word in the novel. Elle James placed a spotlight on the real life issue of human trafficking. I loved Kinsey's excessive talking, her strength, and her ability to always find the positive in life. Sam's honor, family, and willingness to help a total stranger make him a true HERO in my book. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
