I loved this book. As a fan of the forbidden romance trope, I was excited to read this age gap romance and it did not disappoint. The storyline offers a rich, decadent blend of simmering desires, painful, raw emotions, scorching scenes, intense emotional turmoil, drama, humor, danger, suspense and a lot of angst. The book very quickly pulled me in and had me eager to keep reading, even with the full knowledge that this is only book one and that I would be left hanging and desperate for the story to continue in book two. Samantha and Liam are both likable and sympathetic characters. They both have painful histories and carry heavy emotional scars that greatly effect who they are and every action they take. I liked Samantha so much. She was a complex mix of old soul and naivety. As a child prodigy, her amazing gift with the violin has been in its own way both a gift and a curse. I don't even think the word complex can truly describe Liam. Tormented, tortured and broken, we have just barely had a peek into what makes Liam the man he is today and it is dark, tragic and ugly. It has made him into a closed off, controlling, terse, cold fortress of solitude. But just like Superman, he has a weakness and that weakness is Samantha. With some couples, you just instantly know they were made for each other in spite of any and all obstacles and in my opinion, that fits Liam and Samantha to a T. The book is beautifully narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Grace Grant. I love when duel narration is offered because I think it just adds a specialness to the listen. I thought their voices fit the characters perfectly. I will give extra props to Mr. Hamilton though because he truly managed to convey every once of guilt, shame and self-loathing that Liam felt. I just can't wait to read book two and see what happens next for this couple as this amazing story continues. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Enjoyed this overture! Overture is just that - an introduction to the of the world & characters of Liam & Samantha. Theirs is a forbidden love as they are guardian/ward with an age difference, so if that does not appeal to you then you might not like this book. But I love a good forbidden relationship! The author created Liam & Samantha with a rich history & sizzling chemistry that made me root for them & feel for them both. The author weaved a tale of espionage, secrets, love with a twist ending that left me wanting to have the next book now!

5 Stars Review by Elizabeth Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w\ Books Blog Skye Warren has been on my TBR list for a long while now and I never really got around to reading her work even though I have one-clicked ninety-five percent of her books. I saw the blurb for Overture floating around so I thought, why not. Boy am I glad I did! In Overture, we meet Samantha and Liam who are very attracted to one another but cannot let their relationship blossom. Why? For one, Liam is Samantha’s guardian and has been for years. He has watched her grow into the woman she is and cannot act on those feelings. All the while, Samantha has been developing the same feelings. Can they let go and just be? Or is their relationship doomed before they even try? OMG, I am NOT a fan of cliffhangers and let me tell you Overture left me hanging! With Overture being my first read by Skye Warren, I did not expect the hanger I was left with. Liam is a very intriguing guy and it is intense reading about his past, the little he divulges, as well as how much he feels like he does not deserve love. Samantha is a young woman who has no idea how to take the feelings she is feeling. Skye wrote kick-butt characters and worked them into one of my favorite tropes. Forbidden. It is not often that I find a new author to me that blows me away completely. This book kept me turning the pages because it held mystery, angst (in a way), and so much more. I could not have picked a better book to pop my Skye Warren cherry (lol). I am not so patiently waiting for the next book in the series. I cannot wait to see how their relationship goes if there is one, and how the mystery is solved!!!
