This is a story about a woman at the bottom of a bad situation. A woman who has made bad choices and now sees nothing more than trying to live through it. Literally Working in the prisons, her life is thrust out its comfort zone with a new inmate who is hell bent on getting up close and personal with the nurse in the infirmary while her husband is hell bent on beating her senseless. Rough, gritty and real. This book has all the feels and doesn't hold back on the graphic. Both pleasurable and violent. If you feel you may have issues or triggers with domestic violence, rough handling or torture then perhaps you should think before reading. But if you are like me and appreciat3 an author who creates characters you can almost feel, in environments you think you can hear and smell- then you want to buy this bad boy and carve out some hours for a read. Even better - Nicole has a playlist on Spotify that was the music she listened to while writing this. Having that playing enhanced the experience for me! Get on it. Get on Gracin. Get Toxic. All the feels - all the review stars I can award. Note: I received an Advanced Reader Copy for purposes of review which may have had slight editing done after my reading. I have also purchased the final edited copy. The free ARC in no way influenced my review.

Toxic is a white hot masterpiece that will rock, shatter, and rebuild every part of your heart. Nothing in this brilliant storyline will allow you to stand still and gather dust. From the first word you are immediately placed on runaway train that is desperate to jump the rails and find its own track and destination. No matter what you occupy the seat of honor throughout every part of this magnificent journey. What a heavenly dream come true of a story! When one bad decision leads to another, can good possibly be found in its messy aftermath? When your life is ripped apart by darkness can you ever regain any semblance of sanity or peace? Our beautiful and incredible heroine Tessa has to face this nightmare and then some as her life is torn apart so many times, she isn’t sure there is anything left that she can even attempt to put back together. My heart was devastated to watch what all this unbelievably incredible character endures. Not many people could hold onto their sanity or their hope after everything that she is put through over a few short years. Even our hero is nothing that we could have ever seen coming. He is larger them life and everything we both love and hate. Beyond anything else he is the only man who has ever offered a hand to Tessa with no strings or dark intentions attached. Nicole Blanchard has proven without a doubt that she is a spectacularly epic author who is an unbelievable force to be reckoned with! She has truly stepped up her game and blessed us with a fabulous book that will forever live within my heart. If you have never heard of this author until now, you will never forget her name after savoring each life-changing emotion within these brilliant pages!

Wow! I don't even know where to start with this one. I can't say that I particularly liked either of the main characters, individually, but together, Gracin and Tessa are riveting. The story is beautifully written, and for a tale with such controversial characters, it is oddly compelling. It is a rare occasion when I find myself actually rooting for the bad guys, and make no mistake, Gracin is most definitely a bad guy, but the connection he and Tessa have is undeniable. It's easy to see how Tessa fell for Gracin's charms, considering the hand she's been dealt, and he brings out her dark side magnificently. Toxic is dark, a bit twisted, fan yourself sexy, heart wrenching, violent, and in the end, even hopeful. Tessa's journey from mouse to lion is quite gripping and one that I couldn't put down.
