This book had me on the edge of my seat from the very start. It was raw, gritty, sensual and suspenseful. Ms Blanchard expertly weaved a dark, seductive tale about very flawed and damaged characters making us feel heartbreak, horror, confusion, and yet compassion, empathy, and so much more. The journey that Tessa endures is horrifying yet it makes her stronger than anyone would believe from her mousy actions at the beginning. She is smart, resilient and courageous. After being played by a man for the second time, Tessa is determined to start a new life. But after unwittingly helping sexy bad boy Gracin escape from prison, he is not willing to let her go so easily. When someone else is out to hurt her, she is in for the fight of her life! This dark, forbidden romance is gritty, shocking, and seductive. I didn't want to read it at some points but I was powerless to put it down. I kept trying to figure out where this story was going, and the twists this story would take kept me totally engaged. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of dark, edgy stories that takes you on a twisty, thrilling journey you won't forget!

I didn't expect this to go the way it did but I was pleasantly surprised. I should have known from the Blurb that it was going to be one hell of a ride. I devoured this. It's toxic, dangerous, dark, but so passionate, and sexy and the chemistry on fire! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow! I don't even know where to start with this one. I can't say that I particularly liked either of the main characters, individually, but together, Gracin and Tessa are riveting. The story is beautifully written, and for a tale with such controversial characters, it is oddly compelling. It is a rare occasion when I find myself actually rooting for the bad guys, and make no mistake, Gracin is most definitely a bad guy, but the connection he and Tessa have is undeniable. It's easy to see how Tessa fell for Gracin's charms, considering the hand she's been dealt, and he brings out her dark side magnificently. Toxic is dark, a bit twisted, fan yourself sexy, heart wrenching, violent, and in the end, even hopeful. Tessa's journey from mouse to lion is quite gripping and one that I couldn't put down.
