《幽閑鼓吹》是張固搜集整理的唐朝晚期奇聞怪事集，其事多關法戒，非造律虛辭無裨考証者比。唐人小說之中，猶差為切實可據焉。」張固於詩雖未正面表述自己的看法，而主要記述故實，但「詩人之言不足有實也」一語，卻道出了詩須想像的特點。顧況賞識白居易的佳話，李賀詩使韓愈援帶而起的故事，多賴《幽閑鼓吹》而流傳。
《幽閑鼓吹》一卷，二十五篇。《新唐書·藝文志》、《郡齋讀書志》、《遂初堂書目》、《直齋書錄解趣》、《柬史·藝文志》均著錄於子部(類)小說家類，《四庫全書》收於子部小說家類。
