I have searched long and hard for a devotional book that I appreciate as much on December 31 as I did when I began using it January 1. For me, "Listening to Your Life" is that book. Buechner's devotionals are not always light or happy, often leaving the reader feeling a bit convicted. I find myself, some mornings, simply closing the book and sitting quietly, allowing the words to "do their work" in my heart. Some days, I return to them a second time later in the day, they stir my soul so. If you are seeking God, seeking relationship with the Creator through relationship with others, you just might find the beginning steps here.
