This is a fascinating account of Django's life. Django's legacy continues to be a driving force in much of my musical life, and I highly recommend this read for anyone wanting to learn about him. In spite of being illiterate and not able to read music, Django is probably the most influential European jazz musician in history, and certainly one of the fathers of modern guitar. There's a really cool moment in the Les Paul "Chasing Sound" documentary where Les holds up one of Django's original guitars. It is a powerful moment.
