I enjoyed this book and I thought that it brought a better idea of the probes relationship with the whales and the Earth. then what was shown in the movie, in the movie it showed the sound effects in the waves and so on, but it didn't show any actual understandable communication. it seems like the story also brought a couple of deleted scenes and ideas into into the story. then definitely what was shown in the movie. it gave all the characters I think, much more dynamic.
