What should be a cozy and fun-filled weekend deep in the English countryside takes a sinister turn in Ruth Ware’s suspenseful, compulsive, and darkly twisted psychological thriller.

Sometimes the only thing to fear…is yourself.

When reclusive writer Leonora is invited to the English countryside for a weekend away, she reluctantly agrees to make the trip. But as the first night falls, revelations unfold among friends old and new, an unnerving memory shatters Leonora’s reserve, and a haunting realization creeps in: the party is not alone in the woods.

The plot was a bit confusing for a bit too long. I really didn't get what was going on for over half of the book. However, even still, I just couldn't put it down! Then, when the plot does come into full view, and the climax approaches, it's satisfying, but over way too soon. And I don't mean that in a bad way! Ruth Ware really does have you wrapped around her finger, to the point of just wanting to read all of her other work as soon as you finish. Really great read and I recommend it to all!

The buildup was slow and the characters were not people I cared about, but once the story got going about half way through it became suspenseful. I thought I had it figured out at that point, but then doubted myself as questions kept popping up. Good read and well written, despite the slow start. I will read more by this author.

The book is well written and fast paced which I enjoyed. However, the ending was a slight disappointment. I felt as though it was such a build up and then just a blah ending. I'm confused how this book did so well and was made into such a big deal. It's not a bad read but it's not what it was as good as it could have been.
