The book started off with a lot of promises. It had a mixture of fantasy and contemporary themes. There were many parts that I thought were well written. There were too many aspects that drew from the main story arc that I will avoid for spoilers. My chief issue is the "movie magic" that was often jarring, where time seemed to lapse and I wasn't sure what happened. This was used frequently, many that conveniently moved the story along. Toward the end of the book there were a couple of factual inaccuracies. I probably would have glazed over them without other issues. They were minor... and it's a fantasy novel set in the real world. 3 stars=I finished it, but probably wouldn't read it again. I recommended it to others, but not sure if they would like it.

I think the book is very intresting. Though the plot seems a bit boring Kim seems to fill in the blanks. It is quite sad that the other books cost something. This is a great fantasy book. I suggest that you read it if you like mystic books with things that just might be alive when humans die off. But probably not. If you read this book I suggest you read the rest and if you're done you might want to try the other series by Kim called "The Guardian Angels" which are a bit more grown up but still with the same spring to them. I hope you will enjoy this fun and intresting book like I did.

The hero of the story slowly develops over time as additional characters and plot points are introduced. Interesting twists are used in the introduction of hostile mystics. I'm highly interested in reading the rest of the stories to see further developments in the main characters as well as whether or not she attains her goals. A story of suspense, mystery, and intrigue more than horror, I find it to be to my tastes. I give it a 5 for pacing, action, intrigue, and mystery. It was a fun read! :D
