About this ebook

Old grudges die hard for the Southern PI when her high school reunion is interrupted by murder in this cozy mystery by the author of Just Desserts.

When Savannah Reid fled McGill, Georgia, everyone figured the chubby girl from the wrong side of tracks would never come back. But now the successful private investigator is making a triumphant return, attending her 25th high school reunion with her handsome husband on her arm. When her old nemesis Jeanette Parker reprises her role as the Queen of Mean, Savannah finally shows her up. But her moment of victory is sunk when Jeanette's dead body is found in the swamp.

As the primary suspect in Jeanette’s murder, Savannah’s rocky history with the local sheriff doesn’t help her situation. But after calling on her partners at Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency, it is soon revealed that the Queen of Mean had plenty of enemies—and possibly the blood of her recently deceased husband on her hands. Now Savannah and her fellow detectives will have to act fast to catch a killer before another victim is crowned.

Killer Reunion by G.A. McKevett is the twenty-first book in the Savannah Reid series. Savannah Reid and her husband, Dirk have returned to Savannah’s hometown (McGill, Georgia) for her Granny’s birthday. It just so happens that her high school reunion is happening the same week. Savannah arrives at the high school gym to find it decorated completely in purple (not the school colors). Purple happens to be Jeanette Parker’s favorite color (and she was head of the decorating committee). Jeanette was and still is the mean girl. She pushes Savannah too far and Savannah ends up smacking her (and immediately regrets it). Savannah and Dirk head up to make out point (every town has one) for a little adult fun. Savannah hears a splash (there is a lake). They go down to the bottom of the hill (where it is raining) and Savannah cannot see a thing (and manages to leave one of her fancy shoes behind). The next day Jeanette’s purple car is found in the lake with Jeanette in it. Savannah ends up being the prime suspect. Savannah and the Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency (Savannah’s PI business) set out to find the real killer so they can enjoy Granny’s birthday party. Killer Reunion was a disappointment. The majority of the books was devoted to nonsense (the family, Granny's birthday, sexual innuendos). Very little time was spent on the mystery. The only clues provided were right before the killer was revealed (it was an obvious clue). The murder mystery was very easy to solve (you really did not need the clue). I did, though like the surprise at the end of the novel. I just wanted more (more mystery, more substance). Killer Reunion was just okay. I think the series has gone on too long. I give Killer Reunion 3 out of 5 stars. Killer Reunion can be read alone, but I think it would be beneficial to at least read the first book in the series. I received a complimentary copy of Killer Reunion from NetGalley (and the publisher) in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.
