這兩卷本《夢餘說夢》，是作者黃愛玲最近十年的電影隨筆。作者的觀影隨筆，獨具一格。自幼愛看電影，作者說可能是跟她貪睡多夢有關。坐在黑漆漆的電影院裡，眼睛瞪著，精神卻是朦朧狀態，一任銀幕上的光影牽引，走進那太虛幻境。當然，也不是沒有清醒的時候，可看電影就如做夢，美也好惡也好，身體都不由自主地黏在座椅上，直到銀幕上打出一個「完」字，才遊魂似的重返意識的國度裡去。書名典出《聶紺弩舊體詩全編》，聶紺弩舊體詩好幾首都用上了「夢中說夢」四個字，其中「驢背尋驢尋到死，夢中說夢說成灰」特別悲涼，作者覺得貼心，改個字，變成了現在的書名。
