This was a very different book from the common Victorian era books. Elliot having been known for his distaste of the "women's books" of the era, it makes sense that he wrote it. The primary struggle between marriage and a career in this book made for a relatively interesting plot, but all together I did not really like this book, and I have a penchant for classics. I would recommend this book only to those whom I know love classic or Victorian era novels.
