About this ebook

'A magical debut that you will devour' Guardian

'Stunning . . . I am still blown away. An exquisite story' Publishers Weekly

'Hands down the best book I've read this year' Melinda Salisbury

It's the accident season, the same time every year. Bones break, skin tears, bruises bloom.

The accident season has been part of seventeen-year-old Cara's life for as long as she can remember. Towards the end of October, Cara's family becomes inexplicably accident-prone. They banish knives to locked drawers, cover sharp table edges with padding, switch off electrical items - but injuries follow wherever they go, and the accident season becomes an ever-growing obsession and fear.

But why are they so cursed? And how can they break free?

A bewitching, dark and beautiful novel that will stay with you long after the final page.

After reading the reviews I decided to give this book a shot. I was so far from disappointed. The book does take a little bit to pick up steam but then you hit a twist or two and it goes on twisting. It's easy to get swept up with the writters styles she paints a world nots different from the everyday. The characters are almost like your own siblings. You find pieces of yourself in all of them and then, right at the end you get blown away by how painstakingly clear it all was. Definitely a must read.

Cara Morris's family have a complicated relationship with the month of October. They are haunted by past tragedies. Their secrets refuse to remain hidden, becoming too big to contain. In a masterpiece weaving truth, magic, imagination, darkness and compulsive passion to protect the people they love, the Morris family are forced to face the beating heart of their demons head on, if they wish to beat the Accident Season once and for all.
