Emma Carrington is a Hampton socialite on spring break with a friend; Emma’s father is very wealthy but does shady business. During an outing, one of her assigned bodyguards slips some drug in her drink. She decides to ditch him, switches clothes with a woman in the restroom of the bar where she was; she leaves quickly and rents a car. She gets a call from her dad who says security has been compromised and to call her former guardian, Lucy Craig. On her way to Lucy’s safe house, she has an accident and she sees a man undress and … change into a wolf! What a great story! I love that Emma doesn’t do anything stupid: she is careful, she doesn’t panic, she doesn’t jump to conclusions, even when she sees the werewolf, who is otherwise the gorgeous Noah VanBrandt. TO LOVE A MATE is the second book in the VonBrandt Family series, and can easily be read as a standalone. There’s a lot of action: Emma’s life is in danger from both her family’s side and from the werewolves’ side, and there are several unpredictable plot twists! The characters are multi-dimensional, Noah and Emma are very engaging, and I loved Lucy; it was fun for a change to see an older character involved in the story. The romance between Noah and Emma is sweet and sexy, and progressed naturally; they have a lovely relationship amidst all the problems they face. Ms. Shannan’s prose is very fluid, very eloquent, elegant and clear, the story is fast-paced; I loved everything about TO LOVE A MATE: A great read! I was lucky enough to get a free copy of this book from the Author for an honest Review. I have to say I love paranormal books and werewolf's/shifters/vampires are my favourite. So you can guess that I did love this book it had it all. A nice super sexy werewolf and the girl in question was a rich girl but not at all like the rich girls you would think off. I loved Emma's will to survive, Noah was just something you can dream off (really yummy for me anyway). The storyline is great and you want to know what is happing to all in the book and its written really easy to read. Want to have an enjoyable read than don't miss this one, I love it.

Emma Carrington is a tough, beautiful and savvy socialite who has a father of questionable business ethics, which in turn has her running for her life now. Her parents have been killed and she has to get to an arranged safe house in Somewhere, Tx. It's Lucy's (Lucinda Craig)house and she had raised and protected Emma until her parents yanked her into their world 6 years ago. Emma is in for quite a surprise when she accidentally sees Noah Von Brandt shift into his wolf form and steals his truck. Noah finds Emma and his truck and he's quite taken with her. The Von Brandt's are a very wealthy shifter family who have very strict security and land to protect them and the pack. They are not happy that Emma saw Noah shift-their secret has been kept for a very long time. Noah becomes very infatuated with Emma and wants her for his mate. He finds out why she is running and he also wants to protect her. Emma is in love with Noah too but she doesn't want him to become embroiled in her situation. Now Emma has two worries, the men that killed her parents are after her and now Noah's family who thinks she's dangerous because she knows their secret. Will these two find a common ground and have their happy ending? You'll have to find out for yourself. This is a fast paced book,filled with action,romance and humor. There is one scene that had me on the floor laughing. I just loved this story and the characters!
