. أحمد نعمان هو أحد النشطاء المثقفين والسياسيين، وقد لعب دوراً أساسياً في تاريخ اليمن الحديث. كان أول عمل سياسي قام به من اختار له التاريخ صـفة "أستاذ" هو إنشاء مدرسة ، كأسلوب للتأكيد على أهمية التعليم في العملية الثورية وفي التنمية. إن الجهد التحديثي الذي ساهم في ولادة النظام الجمهوري في عام 1962م مدين له بالكثير. غير أن نعمـان سرعان ما وجد نفسه في خلاف مع ثوار 26 سبتمبر، فما كان منه إلا أن اختار المنفى. ولما كان صديقه و موضع ثقته محمود الزبيري قد لقي حتفه مبكراً أثناء الحرب الأهلية، فإن هاتين الشخصيتين لم تجدا حتى اليوم الموقع الذي يليق بهما ضمن مؤسسي اليمن الحديث
