About this ebook

Murder happens in Houston, but when the most recent murders take on disturbing similarities, local law enforcement officers fear a serial killer is roaming their streets.

Former sheriff’s department sergeant Jade Monroe has just graduated from the FBI’s serial crimes unit in homicide and is called to Houston with her partner, J.T. Harper, to take on her first assignment—apprehending the person responsible for these gruesome crimes.

With victims piling up and the clock ticking, Jade and J.T. need to intensify their search because there’s no sign the killer is slowing down.

After a late-night epiphany while she’s alone, Jade suddenly comes face to face with the killer, and now Jade is missing. The clock continues to tick—but this time it’s for her.

Editorial Review

"In this first installment of Sutter’s new series, heroine Jade Monroe has just completed FBI training and is assigned to help track down a serial killer in the Houston area. As bodies accumulate, the agents learn that each victim’s death involved a concrete block, and their job is to figure out why. The smart, risk-taking heroine that readers came to admire in Sutter’s previous Jade Monroe novels is back and in rare form, and the stakes have never been higher, especially when Jade makes a rash decision that threatens to end her FBI career when it’s barely begun. The action never slows down in this book, a wild romp of a thriller that Sutter fans will find deeply satisfying.” Angela M., Editor, Red Adept Editing

I needed something to read while at work because we can't have phones out, but we have access to computers and internet (weird, right?...whatevs) So I go to Google Books and then search Free Books (because again, I'm at work and need something to pass the time) and this book had to be around the 6th or 7th book on this category. So I read the cover...Snapped....hmm, sounds interesting, I watched Snapped on TV before, this is going to be juicy!!! I swear I started reading this book 3 days ago and I'm done! This book is awesome! I love the two vantage pints of the book, both the killer and the Agent that i would soon learn is the Protagonist in this book. I also love how the author put bits and pieces of the Antagonist's background in it which keeps you interested in how this whole thing is going to end. The best parts for me was the gory descriptions of every murder. AS a child your imagination flourishes uncontrollably, but as an adult, it tends to wither away like leaves on a tree in the Autumn seasons. But this book puts that vivid imagination back where it needs to be when I read this book. I would honestly loooooove to give away the ending, but that's not happening. C.M. Sutter, you rock with this whole series, and I've only read 1 book. My ultimate goal is to own the entire collection. I need top find these in paperback form! 5 stars does NOT do this book any justice. And the one thing I'm upset about is why I didn't know there was more of these books I could've just read on chronological order, now I have to start from the beginning, darn you Sutter for luring me in with a free book on Google Books :-)

Like so many psychological and crime novels I've read lately, the story is OK and even exciting at times but the heroine does stupid things to repeatedly put herself in danger. Once the story was laid out, it was predictable. By 75% of the novel the entire story was obvious. Just wondered what the final body count would be. I'll probably read other Jade Monroe novels.
