About this ebook

The final page will leave you breathless.
When Kara Magari uncovers a secret door in the middle of the forest, she discovers (and trips through) a portal to a hidden world full of terrifying things: Ourea. She just wants to go home, but the natives have other plans for her. She clashes with immortal shapeshifters, is carried off by a dragon, nearly dies on several occasions, and somehow becomes the master of an ancient book of magic called the Grimoire. Every time she thinks she's safe, her new "friends" show their true colors.

Kara needs an ally, or she might not survive Ourea's monsters. She drops her guard when Braeden, a native soldier with a dark secret, vows to keep her safe. And though she doesn't know it, her growing attraction to him may just be her undoing.

For twelve years, Braeden Drakonin has lived a lie. The Grimoire is his one chance at redemption, and it lands in his lap when Kara Magari comes into his life. Though he begins to care for this stranded girl, there's something he wants more. He wants the Grimoire.

Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive.

Welcome to the world of Ourea. A world so vast and different from any other fantasy world that you'll feel as if you've fallen into a spell. And as we stumble through the Lichgate into another realm, it mimics the very actions of the novel itself. Prepare to lose yourself in Lichgate, a rich and emotional novel with a mind all its own. Boyce wrote this book to create an entire new world in the reader's mind. And the experience is truly magical. We follow the life of Kara, a relatable young girl who has gone through enough sorrow and suffering to no longer have any hope left in her dark dark world. And when she stumbles across the responsibilities of the Grimoire and suddenly finds herself hunted by almost every creature in Ourea, the journey becomes as convicting as it is dangerous. I personally enjoyed the growth and development the characters undergo through their journey, especially noting the change in Kara herself as she grows into her place as Vagabond. Just like in real life, when the book nears a close, the characters are almost completely different than who they were before. Some growing to believe in themselves, others learning how to coupe with responsibility and their pasts, while others still learn what it means to love and be loved. The novel was well developed and engrossing. The fights were necessary and unpredictable. The characters powerless and powerful all at once. And I'd happily read this book over a dozen times more. 10/10

There are so many interesting characters and creatures in this story and they're all described in perfect detail. You can't help but love Kara from the beginning and Braeden is just as lovable with his ulterior motive. This story brings known mythological creatures and beings together with new ones and makes for a truly enchanting tale. I'm excited to start the next book in the series soon and eventually read all Ourea books. The author brings a new world to life full of mystery and adventure.

One of the most amazing books ever written. This series will grab a hold of you and never let go. The first time I read them I couldn't put it down and had to buy the next one as soon as I finished the first. The second time around was no different. I hate to leave the amazing world of Ourea when I reach the last book.
