About this ebook

Genesis is a culmination of early works that is derived from a

combination of internal, vicarious and imaginative experiences.

It is an interrogation and exploration of the human and social

condition and the self. The poetry is largely contemplative,

reflective, and introspective and focuses on the ontological

and existential nature of life.

About the author

John Hagley was born in 1987 in the town of Port of Spain in Trinidad, one of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. The experience of exploring and interrogating the human condition has strongly influenced Hagley’s life and work. After studying at Fatima College in his native island and continuing his studies at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, Hagley’s creative writing capabilities began to reveal itself in his penultimate year at the university. At the age of 22 he compiled his first collection of poems in the book Genesis (2010). He continues to write poetry and plans to expand his writing into short-stories and novels.
