This was so good! It's a retelling of The Little Mermaid with twist and turns you don't see coming. But it also has so much to the story and it's fun and intriguing and it had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. Mari was a mermaid that lost her soul and then went to find it on land with her best friend Shelbie. Erickson was the reason she lost it and thought she could trust him. Aaron warned her not to trust Erickson. Then through an adventure filled with danger, discoveries, lies and revelations, Mari, Shelbie and an unquestionable friend made her future, along with other mer become soul filled. Fun read I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This reinvention of The Little Mermaid was very interesting. The sea witch may not be as evil as first thought. Instead of losing her voice, this little mermaid loses her soul. The story then revolves around her trying to reclaim her soul and in so doing, possibly solving an age-old curse/legend that has affected all the Mer people. The answers may not be what she thought they would, and the consequences may or may not be worth her sacrifice. I think you will enjoy this version. I liked having a different way to look at the story. This is a good start to the series, and I am looking forward to reading Thumbelina's story next.
