دعبل الخزاعي أحد أهم شعراء القرنين الثاني والثالث الهجري، وقد نشأ دعبل وترعرع في الكوفة موئل الشيعة، حيث كانت آنذاك حافلة بالأفكار السياسية والحزبية، كما أنها كانت زاخرة بعلماء الحديث والفقه واللغة، وبأهل الأدب . فكان لا بد لدعبل من أن يرفد من هذه الأجواء الثقافية ما يغني شاعريته، ويؤهله فيما بعد أن يكون مشاركا في المجالس الأدبية مع غيره من شعراء عصره وهذا ديوان يشتمل على مجمل أشعار دعبل الخزاعي في مختلف الأغراض الشعرية، وخاصة ما تميز به دعبل وهو الهجاء، وقد رتب الديوان ترتيبا ألفبائيا حسب القوافي للشعرية وهذه طبعة محققة ومخرجة القصائد أو المقاطع الشعرية
