I think I read somewhere that this was the author's first historical fiction. Let me just say that I look forward to more in the future. I hope there is more in the future. There are losses. There is love. This story has a happy ending in that Josephine, Elodie and Grant survive. To reach the ending the reader must suffer along with the characters. You will cry. Your heart will break. Anger will flow. Respect to Josephine Baker's team.
