A bit disappointing. I loved the first book "The Right Hand of God" but have been a little disappointed with this, so much so that I'm fighting myself not to quit it. This book is a bit drawn out, and each battle goes on forever, describing too much detail and too many different armies/religious orders. One of these books you quickly lose track and have to reread parts.

Slow starter, but a really good read. Imaginative, fun, great characters.

The authors a bit words sometimes but overall a book that's keeps bowling along.

Paul Hoffman is the author of three previous novels, The Last Four Things (2011), The Left Hand of God (2010), The Beating of His Wings (2013), The Golden Age of Censorship (2007), a black comedy based on his experiences as a film censor and The Wisdom of Crocodiles (2000), which predicted the collapse of the world financial system.
