About the author

I was born and brought up in Cardiff and now, retired, have returned to Wales to live in Monmouth. In between, I spent my career teaching Chemistry and a bit of Physics, and writing “educational materials”, in various parts of southern England.

Science Fiction has been a pleasure all my life; the variety of sub-genres and range of authors that I have read, amazingly broad. I have also been writing since I was 10. Strangely, the first novel I had published, by Elsewhen, happened to be more Fantasy than SF. The Evil Above the Stars trilogy, contains science but it is pre-Copernican. The sequel, Cold Fire, is also Fantasy with a touch of C17th chemistry. I am still working on my first-contact SF novel.

Since I was in my 20s, I have felt a conflict between my masculine and feminine traits. That has been resolved by adopting a non-binary/gender-fluid identity. I have advised the police on transgender matters and write regular articles for a transgender magazine.

Lou and I have now been married for 35 years and enjoy our time together. We play tennis, go for walks and have holidays on our shared-ownership narrowboat. I have two step-children and four delightful grandchildren. Despite having passed the biblical three score years and ten, I am hoping for many more years of putting on screen and paper the ideas that come into my head.
