Synopsis

Wiltshire, England

Lady Lily Jameson is thrilled to attend a house party given by the Daniel Farnsworth, the Duke of Lybrook, but not because he’s the most eligible bachelor in the peerage. Her only interest is his famous art collection, which reputedly includes a painting by her favorite artist, Jan Vermeer.

Daniel, duke only by virtue of the untimely deaths of his father and older brother, wants nothing to do with his new duties. He’d rather continue his rakish ways. When he finds the lovely Lily sneaking around the property in search of his art collection, sparks fly.

Despite her father’s wishes, Lily has no intention of marrying. She wants to travel the world to gain real life inspiration for her painting and writing. And what could be better worldly experience than a passionate affair with the notorious Duke of Lybrook?

But circumstances may change the game and the players…and danger lurks, as well.

I bought the full series set on a whim. This was the first book, and it feels really rushed. The majority of the book happens in under a week. Even for a romance story, that is a pretty rapid timeline. I like the characters, but the story itself is pretty shallow. Especially since it's setting up for the rest of the series. Hopefully the other novels get to spend some more time on developing it's characters. As far as the love scenes, the author seems to have a limited range of words to utilize for human anatomy 😂.

I have finally read and finished Lily and The Duke. I must say, as per usual Helen, did not disappoint. The strong willed vibrant character of Lily, is very easy to love and adore. The deliciously rakish Duke, makes you warn with wanting. There is a deep need for eachother that is quickly evident. This story takes you back to a time of innocence, very secret liaisons and the most raw need. I'm very much looking forward to Rose's story.

Absolutely positively loved it!!! I couldn't get enough of it and couldn't put it down. A Victorian Romance novel beautifully well written. Set back in the 1800's, you get a gist of what life was like back then. Thanks again Ms. Helen Hardt, job well done😆😉👍👌👏
